source: single consultant 2014 note: Holle lists both forms, and they do both exist as alternate pronunciations, but I’m not convinced it is dialectic. I have heard the same speakers alternate between a and o in several words, and while it could be an ēther/either situation, I suspect there might be an elusive phonological process at work
